What do you need to know to store bottles at their best and avoid storage problems?
Humidity
A wine cellar is not simply a fridge; its purpose goes beyond keeping wine cool. Humidity is a crucial factor in the ageing process, helping to preserve corks and prevent oxidation. Humidity levels must be kept between 70% and 80% to ensure each bottle matures properly, avoiding changes that could compromise the quality of the wine.
Temperature
Every wine has an ideal serving temperature, but in general wines mature best at a constant temperature between 15 and 18°C. Sudden fluctuations can disrupt the delicate ageing process, altering aromas and flavours. Keeping the temperature stable is therefore crucial to ensure each bottle reaches its full potential.
Climatica Group SA provides purpose-designed solutions for fine control of temperature and humidity in small private cellars, or in any other space that requires it, using dedicated air conditioners with heating, cooling, humidification and dehumidification functions. Our range of cellar air conditioners now includes two new variants: the CCA model, a split unit with outdoor condensing unit, and the CCW model, a water-cooled packaged unit.
